I would like to be able to CTRL+click on an index entry page number and jump
to the index entry, just as you can with a table of contents. I've tried
playing with the INDEX field switches, but haven't found anything
appropirate.

It's often been requested, but this is not currently a feature of Word.

Thank you for the help. It seems a bizarre omission when you can do the same
from tables of contents. IndexAssistant I have since discovered offers this
feature.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to:
1. Add an index entry without having to see hidden text and fields pop up
every time - my text boxes go shooting off into the blue void, and I have to
hide hidden text to be able to see my document again after every entry.
2. Edit my index entries by working directly on the index itself, and have
Word update the fields.
3. Add index entries to text boxes. I was sold the idea of text boxes, then
find I have to convert a whole bunch of them back into frames just to get
index entries to stat working again.
