Jpeg Problems

I reformatted my hard drive and put windows xp Home on mt
hard drive. Now the problem I am having is .JPEG pics
are coming in scrambled. I can see .gif and other pic
fine, but .jpeg pics are all messed up. Do you think
that when I was installing or updating windows a file got
screwed up? But here is a catch. If I right click and
go to SAVE AS and save the pic I can then view it by its
self. I really need to fix this problem before I go
crazy. Thanks for all your help.

What does "scrambled" and "messed up" mean? *How*?

Is this happening in Internet Explorer, or in some other program you're using?
