Hello Jonathan,
Well I have 2 questions for you tonight, well maybe 3.
#1 Why is your site so busy I have tried for two days to log on to it
with no luck?? I used the address
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/problem.aspx?ID=7
If I remember right you have re-install instructions for windows messenger.
#2 Will you share them with me tonight without having to go to your site?
#3 Also will removing windows messenger have any effect on MSN Messenger???
I wanted to know because this lady I know is married to a big cop and he
carries a really BIG GUN,
so I don't want to mess up MSN Messenger, understand???? ROFL
Thank you again in advance
Bob

Greetings Bob,

It's the morning now, sorry about that.

1. At present the site only allows 40 connections at once -- this limit should be
practically unlimited by the end of the week (switching database solutions). If you keep
trying, you can usually get in within 10-20 tries.
2. Of course, to fully remove Windows Messenger 4.x, close down Messenger if it's running
(right click the messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then
click the start button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK. Messenger will then be uninstalled.

3. Three features in MSN Messenger will no longer work with Windows Messenger uninstalled --
Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, and Application Sharing. If you can live without these,
everything else in MSN Messenger should work fine.

Hi Terje,

Of course, you can reinstall Windows Messenger 4.7 here:
http://g.msn.com/5meen_us/121?plcid=0409

or install Windows Messenger 5 here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp

There really isn't any advantage to using one Windows Messenger version over the other when
you're not using it -- which version you have installed is up to you.

Hi...

Thanks...

I don't really want to install another version, but I need to get back the
missing features (Remote Assistance and Application Sharing) in Messenger 6
after I removed the old version. Useful connecting to my friends helping
them with different problems... But I still prefer Messenger 6 over the old
ones, so the problems having two versions... I'll try to live with that...

Thanks for the information. Your info here in news and your website have
been very useful.

Keep up the good work.

Regards
Terje
