I have a Win 2000 server with 4 pc's, 2 using Win 2000 and
2 using XP Pro. The Win 2000 boxex connect fine, the XP
Pro boxes say "Network path not found." All use the same
user log-on and all have fixed ip addresses. Ping works on
all boxes.

Any ideas as to why XP Pro errors?

Gratefully to all who help,
Craig

Change the XP machines to use the Windows 2000 Server IP
address for their DNS servers, and see if it works then.

Craig:

Assumptions:
You are not using a domain.
You are not using DNS or WINS server services.
You have verified that all firewalls are disabled.

Do the following on one XP computer. Once you get it to work, then fix the
other XP computer.
1) On the XP computer do Start: Run: \\x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the address
of the Win2k server.
I assume that will work.

2) Verify the XP computer has the same workgp entry that the Win2k server
has.
Use CPanel: System: Computer Name tab.
Reboot the XP computer if you change anything.
