Whenever I try to run any media managers that use this feature, I
get a warning "JET is broken". Obtain a repair install kit from MS. When
I download a installer it either doesn't apply to this version of
windows or is too old.
Currently I have 2 or three managers.
MP3 is helium (gives me the warning or stops windows cold)
ACDsee for pictures, restarts windows at initial startup.
Creative mediasource handles audio and video, as far as I can tell.

Would like to install the music manager as I can print a list of the
libraries (multiple), and ACDsee for the pictures, but cannot as they
both stop windows and won't allow normal operation. Is there some way of
finding out what the core problem could be.

Statistics:
AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz processor
768MB RAM
Giga-byte motherboard GA-7zxe
SoundBlaster x-fi xtreme audio
ATI Radeon 7000 Video
Sony DRU-810 DVD-RW (1yr old)
WDC- WD-800JB Hard drive (1yr old)

I may try the Picasa photo organizer, and check for similar problem.

If I get desparate, I may even try/buy linux.

This is a thanks. TY andrew.
I have checked wth WDC and can return/upgrade drive. Will most likely
try that route as I received a SMART error during on POST 2 weeks ago.
Other software diags say ok (no trouble found), but with the MOBO saying
SMART problems I am now leaning definitely in the direction of
drive/cable replacement.
This problem even had MS techs baffled.
I believe that the media in the drive could have worn down or become
corrupted because of a dirty environment. (Dust/dirt still has ways of
getting through even minute openings, which would pass sealing process
inspection at drive manufacturers.)
