Because of the virus hoax I deleted the file
jdbgmgr.exe. I now understand that this is an essential
file to have for Java. Being completely unsophisticated
in computers I am now seeking info on how to restore this
file, or, to learn if needs to be restored. Help, please.

Well I still don't, on my mac *or* my PC, and certainly not on my
XPembedded systems. You're posting in the wrong group, I suggest you
try the .general group, we don't deal with home/office versions of XP
here.
I suggest a google groups search of microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
 
....of course by saying this, I'm invoked the hardware
fairies, and my iBook's keyboard has stopped working.
