Hi Nels - OK, we'll try it another way. Open Windows Explorer and look in
Program Files and see if you have a folder named Java. For example, if you
have the Sun Java Runtimes installed, you should have in that Java folder
another folder named J2re1.4.2 which, in turn, has some sub-folders and a
bunch of files (mostly licenses at the top level folder

) The total
size of that J2re1.4.2 folder will be about 34MB. If you don't have that,
post back with the names of any folders and/or programs that are listed
there. If you have all that, then look in Settings|Control Panel and see if
you have a Java applet called Java Plug-in. If so, double click to open it,
then click either the Default or the J2re entry in the dropdown in the
Advanced tab, and Microsoft Internet Explorer in the Browser tab. Now in
IE6|Tools|Internet Options|Advanced, check the box under Java (Sun) that
says "Use Java 2 . . . .", then close all instances of IE6 and re-open. Now
you can test whether Sun Java is working on your machine at the following
sites:
http://www.pocoso.de/pocoso052.html
http://www.clan.lib.ri.us/clan/javatest.html
http://www.fitwise.com/testjava.asp (both 1.0 and 1.1 and what's
installed)
http://coglab.wadsworth.com/support/browsercheck.html
http://www.ces.clemson.edu/webct/browser_detect.html
and you can test Javascript here:
http://www.dancespots.net/browsertest.htm
and check whether you have the MS VM installed and which version here:
http://www.visualware.com/support/javasupport.html
If you also want to install the Microsoft Java VM, post back and I'll give
you instructions for that, also.
