hi,

To make a long story short, i had to reinstall M$ after
format c: (all went to garbage finally -chaos won !)
I'm wondering if there is a replacement for java ? i'm not
in the mood for installing 150Mo of "crap" i will almost never
use... only to get a plugging for mozilla.

Not a replacement as such - but just install the JRE, not the entire
Java SDK.

It's a lot smaller, the self-installer I last used is:
15,991,392 jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe

Where an old Java SDK is:
97,293,845 j2sdk-1_4_2_04-nb-3_6-bin-windows.exe

Gary and lisztfr - Just an FYI - the latest is:

jre-1_5_0_05-windows-i586-p.exe 15.67 MB available here:

Also BE SURE that you uninstall any prior versions of Sun Java as some,
specifically JRE v. 1.4.2_03 and/or anything earlier than 1.4.2_06, contain
a security bug which certain malware, notably Winfixer/Vundo, are suspected
of exploiting, though this isn't absolutely proven yet.

Ok, i was just downloading a "pluggin" throught the Firefox pluggin
installer, there i had no choice and was "condamned" to install
130Mo + 23Mo language pack....
Maybe i made a mistake (x10 ) will try it next since i have a new hard
drive.
(Western digital : 1seagate was DOA, the other went defect after
3 days; no luck ?)
