Should I update my JRE? I am currently using JRE 1.4.2_03. I was told there
are quite a few vulnerabilities in the version I'm using.

Thanks in Advance,
Helen

I think I hit the wrong reply button.

Should I uninstall the old version first before installing the new one?

You can if you want. Or, uninstall it after you install the latest version.

Either way. Various versions of sun java seem to coexist ok, but better
to delete the old version eventually.

I have another question. When I go to Java 2 in the Add/Remove Programs and
click on Support Inf./Readme Text, the information is all about Python, not
Java. There is no Readme Text under Python in Add/Remove Programs. I went on
Python's support information online and it mentions that HP and Compaq
computers install Python since some of their applications probably use it.
Since I have an HP computer, that's where it came from. I just need to know
if updating JRE to the newest version could cause problems with Java and/or
Python. It's just strikes me as strange that the Readme notes was all about
Python and not Java.
