java problem

I am using Sun java 2 version 1.4.2_04 however when I am in chat I cannot
use Private messaging because the chat box appears but doesn't allow me to
type into it, what do I do?

I don't recommend you using Sun Java. I tried using it last time and I found
out that hangs my system alot. Try using an old version of JAVA Virtual
Machine. It's not supported by Microsoft anymore but way better than Sun
Java.
