I have been trying to resolve some issues with not being able to view some
graphics and with some links not working on internet access. Last night, a
tech support person for my broadband service, advised me that my Java plug in
was corrupted and that I needed to uninstall all of my Java files and
reinstall my Java plug in from the CD that came with my computer. When I
pulled out my folder with my original paperwork and cd's, I found one several
CD's that came with the new compuer. I assume it would be on the XP
re-installation disk, but in looking at the directory on the disk, it looks
like I would be re-installing the entire XP OS, which I don't want to get
into.
Can anyone give me some information on this problem?

Hi Mom,

Hopefully none of the programs you are using require a specific version
(some do).

Open Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Remove all versions of Java
listed.

Then download and install the newest version here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Pick the offline version (file size 15.67 MB) and install it. From here
on out, any update to Java will remove the prior version, so you won't
have multiple versions like you may have had before.
