java console pop up, stop it how

Not xp related, but I know someone here knows. I got sun java on my
computer. Whenever I visit a chat page that requires java, this java window
opens up. I hit "q" to hide the console window, but it keeps popping up
every time I need the java. I cannot find anywhere in the program's folder
how to stop this and there is no Java icon in the systray when this console
window pops up. Anyway to stop this?

Control panel/switch to classic view/java plugin/basic tab/tick "do not
start console"
