I posted this message about 2 months ago, the went on holiday and now I
can't fing back the answers. Sorry to post it again. Hope some answers...
Thank you. Michel.

------------------------------

I would like to desable the iviaudio codec (iviaudio.ax).

1) On a earlier post, PapaJohn mentions that just renaming is (them) may not
be enough since it (they) reappear(s) automatically. On my computer they do
not reappear automatically (after reboot). Does that mean, that, in my case,
just renaming them is enough?

2) After renaming them, is it necessary to reboot the computer or not?

3) Unregistering the codec. On my computer, iviaudio.ax appears twice, in
two different folders (intervideo/windvd and intervideo/common/bin). Does
that mean that they are twice registered? Should I then (un)register them
both? Or (un)registering one of them is enough? Wich one?

4) After (un)registering, is it necessary to reboot the computer or not?

5) To verify if the codec is unregistrered or not: goto my computer, manage,
device manager, sound video and game controller, audio/video codec,
properties. My question: in that list, what is the item referring to
iviaudio.ax. I don't see the "iviaudio" name in clear in the list.

6) iviaudio.ax comes with WinDVD. Will an uninstall of WinDVD also unistall
and remove iviaudio.ax?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Michel,

1 - yes, renaming is enough
2 and 3 - the ones in the windvd and windvd folders are probably
sufficient - not the common folders
4 - no reboot needed - no restart of MM2 needed if it's open. Ready to test
5 - GSpot is easier to see the registered codecs with the file names. But,
if you rename the file, it would still be in the list of registered codecs -
just wouldn't be there to use when MM2 tries
6 - yes, it would/should.

Perfectly clear. Thank you.
