The orb (or pizza) has totally disappeared, along with the QAT. How do
I get it back?

In all applications? Just in Outlook? In all Outlook forms? What is in
its place?

This only occurs with the primary screen when I open Outlook. The others
appear to be all right. I'm using Outlook as a stand-alone application;
resident on my computer. It has no connection to a server (not a client) and
the only link to the outside world is my DSL line to my ISP.

Thanks.

The primary window Outlook doesn't have the Office ribbon and thus, no orb.
So, really, you haven't lost anything. It was never there.

No, I haven't. But I prefer using it to the old menus which I never learnt.
Wierd, uh!

Sure ... It gives a consistent look-and-feel with the other Office
applications and the newer user will find it easier to learn if the menus are
consistent and skill sets can be migrated from one product to another.

Looking at that paragraph you may be able to tell that I was in the IT
business in the corporate world (mainframes at that time and where I worked
they still have massive complexes of mainframes linked together).

Sure ... It will give a consistent interface with other Office products which
will let a new user migrate skill sets from one part of Office to the other.

The corporate world might not go for this (massive retraining) but for the
individal user like me it would be very nice.
