Hi,

My website and database work correctly on my local server if I grant full
permissions to IUSR_mycomputer. Could anyone please tell me what the
equivalent should be on the live server?

Thanks,

Jackie

Jackie,

Open the subweb directly on the remote server in FP, then Tools | Web
Settings | Database and verify or recreate your database connection, this
should set the permissions for the fpdb folder and the database for the
subweb.

Thomas,

I've done that, but still get the same error when I try to update a record
on the database :

Description: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an
updateable query.
Number: -2147467259 (0x80004005)
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers

I presume it's just a permission problem somewhere? Anywhere else I can go
to change things?

Jackie

Is this on your local machine or the remote server?

If it is local machine, then open IIS MMC, select the subweb, right click
properties, then Home Directory | Application section, click remove then
click create.

You may need to re-start IIS.

Thomas,

it's on the remote server.

It's all been working correctly on my local machine. That's why I was asking
about the IUSR_mymachine permission, as that seems to work the magic at this
end!

Oh, will I ever understand all this?! ;o)

Thomas -

should the attributes of the fpdb folder in my Front Page Web be read only?
I've tried to change it but when I go back in it's read only again. The
database within the folder is not read only.

Although it's obviously not making a difference locally (as the updates and
amends are all working) could this be significant?

Since this is on the remote server, unless you have admin access to this
server, only the host/admin can make changes to permissions at the file
system level.

Ask your host to re-set the application root for the subweb.
