Its all going CRAZY - Pls help :(

I just got on broadband with NTL and ditched AOL. Now I am so confused I could cry :
To start with there is a error message that always comes up when I open Outlook - the message is - The host 'http' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'http', Server: 'http', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D - i dont know what this means but i`m sure it aint right. Also a window ALWAYS appears from http//123mania.com/english.asp and its full of flashy ads. It used to say El major continendo !!! What the hell is it and why wont it GO AWAY !!! Next I have a liitle thing called a weatherbug in my bottom right toolbar near the time on PC - it seems to be constantly downloading and I cant get rid of it. How do I get rid and is it harming my computer. And if all this wasnt ANNOYING enough !! Now when i get a message from broadband medic it also shows error messages and now i cant get help there either. What have I done to my computer and can I reset it in anyway so all this STOPS.

Sorry to whinge but its making my internet experience nothing but a pain and no fun at all. I cant even add text to my AIM IM messages or reply to my friends. PLEASE HELP ME

I can't say for sure but it sounds like several types of
scumware, I know that weatherbug is scumware.
About your email problem it could be that you need to
adjust your settings your ISP can help with that,but try
ALL of these first.Good luck

Hi Caroline

Have you checked all your server settings:

POP3 = pop.ntlworld.com
SMTP = smtp.ntlworld.com

From a command prompt can you please type

ipconfig /all

and post back the IP Addresses of your DNS Server(s)(2?) and DHCP Server.

For the 'english.asp' problem:

Try all of the following programs to see if there is any spyware on your system:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Failing all else, try - (e-mail address removed) - I use it quite often, but sometimes have to wait 'days' for a reply.

You're welcome Caroline. NTL's servers can be next to bloody useless at times. I've got a few NTL support contact names if your problems continue - email me.

I'm not an MVP or an expert of any kind, but to add to what you have already
been told, GET RID OF THE WEATHERBUG!! That thing is so full of spyware and
other garbage, it's no wonder you keep getting all those pop-ups.

To add to jetjock's note, I would be leery of anything that boldly puts the
word "BUG" in its title
In the computer world, bug = problem
In the security world, bug = spying
