Hi there – I am contemplating getting connected to the Internet at home. But which ISP shall I choose? I hope someone can give me sound advice. Looking forward to your replies

Kate,

This is wrong NG (Windows XP Embedded). For home XP usage try asking this question in. microsoft.public.windowsxp.general although
than NG is not probably appropriate either but you will probably get reply.

Slobodan

Dear Kate,

This is probably wrong NG for this question.

Futhermore, ISP selection is not the problem for users in other groups
to discuss.

Bing believe me there are newsgroups that would discuss the colour of your
hair, people will always have an nopinion and there is alwasy a newsgroup to
do it.

That's not really the point: I don't think alt.fashion is a good place
to ask questions about XP Embedded, so why would it be true in the
other direction?

You can always try, it's just a tad less likely that you'll get any
_good_ replies by people who know what they're talking about.

PS: "nopinion" - typo, or the perfect word to describe newsgroup
discussions? ;)

PS2: Kate, if I were you I'd

1) Ask some people in your area who are already connected.
There are regional differences, but you're asking on a medium with
worldwide distribution (I could recommend my own provider, but
there's a 0% chance it would be of any help to you).

2) If you still want to ask though a newsgroup, try one like
alt.internet-providers.america (you won't find that group on MS's
servers, but it does exist.)

3) Keep in mind that ISP's are like cars: 85% of the [male] population
believes his own delivers the best quality for money, and 75% agree
that a ferrari would perform better even if what they really need
it for is to haul lumber.
