ISERROR function

One of the fields in my query is clearly returning an error. The output is
"#ERROR". However, when I try to do an ISERROR function on that field, the
function returns the same thing (#ERROR)!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anybody know why
this would happen? The original error field is a formula concatenating two
text fields.

I'm using the "&" sign. Why would that make a difference?

I was more asking about whether you're referring to field names, alias
names, including functions, etc.
