We have 30 users that can ivew up to 85 seperate mailboxes
at the same time.
I need new mail arrivals (the numberic digits that display
beside the inbox) to display beside the Mailbox name
instead.
has anyone ever seen a fix, patch or hack to do this ?

You mean, you want the unread message count to appear next to the top-level
folder of the secondary mailboxes rather than next to Inbox, etc? I can't
think of any way to do that.

No, not possible. You can however use the Shortcut Pane (Outlook 2003) or
the Outlook Bar (Outlook 2002 and previous) to create a custom overview
which can display just the Inbox folder of each mailbox.

....just thought of the Outlook shortcut bar method also - you can rename
each shortcut to the inbox with the name of the mailbox owner.

I always hit Send too early.

Unfortunately I know what you mean :-D
