Is this animation possible?

Hello

I have just upgraded to PPT 2003 from 2000.

What I would like to do is have a graphic of a 3 dimensional box turn
into a cross ... I though by the top going up, the front and bottom
going down and the sides going out.

Before I spend time too much time on this I want to know if it is
theoretically possible - I have created a 3D box out of 6 auto shapes
- so I just need to know whether to press on and perhaps a couple of
tips on the best way of doing it.

Many thanks in advance

Deb

There are many ways to do this, but this is the way I probably would.

If you have a solid background, you could place 4 masking squares (shapes
with the same background color as the rest of the slide) just outside the
3-d box and motion path them into place together (from all 4 directions).
At the same time, you can animate in another color filled box that will
cover your 3-d, but still be masked by the other boxes.

If you need an example, let me know.

OK - thanks. This really helped. I created the cross with a masking
rectangle then put the 3D box on top then used the custom animation
settings to make it all happen at once. That got me realising that
there were lots of different effects that would be just as effective -
even more so - than the box opening out. I didn't realise how much I
could do with masking and with animations happening all at the same
time.

Thanks again

Deb
