I just bought a new printer (Canon i960). It is USB. It is hooked up
to an 800Mhz system running Windows ME. I have 2 other systems, 2.5
Mhz systems running XP networked with this computer via a cable router
and hub. I have never had any problems with this setup. I used to
have a HP 855 printer (at least 5 or 6 years old) hooked up to this
configuration and never had any problems. Since hooking up the new
Canon I have had problems. Both XP systems kept saying that the
Wndows ME system didn't have the proper drivers when trying to install
a printer on them even though I did have the latest drivers installed
from Canon. Eventually both systems mysteriously allowed the printer
to be seen on the network and I could print a paper from Wordpad. I
could not print from Word. A page from the internet printed but very,
very slow to load. Any suggestions on what might be wrong or where I
can look for help? I'vr tried the Microsoft Knowledge base but didn't
see anything there. Canon doesn't support network printing. I don't
know if it's a printer, XP, USB or ME problem. Any ideas?????

Try connecting the Printer to one of the XP systems and getting it
running properly from there. When that is done connect it to the
other one and get that working as well.

Then connect it back onto the WindowsMe machine and change the printer
port selection in Printer and Faxes - Canon i960 - Properties - Ports
so it connects to the shared port on the WindowsMe machine.

Good luck
