Is there hidden text in documents?

Am using WinXP-pro. The SEARCH function seems to find text that "used to be
there" but isn't anymore....

Here's what did...I replaced some text in an old archive document, then
resaved it with a new name, and deleted the old document. The text was
actually an account number that I switched to all zeros, ...as a small extra
security precaution in case I left my PC on and someone accessed it. Here's
what I did:

----------old version-----------
Dear Sir,
Enclosed is a deposit for account number 12345678, please...

---------new re-saved version-------
Dear Sir,
Enclosed is a deposit for account number 00000000, please...

Problem is that when you right click My Computer > Search > [enter word or
phrase] 12345678... it brings up this document *again*...even though when
you double-click it, the text shows all zeros.

Is there some shadow text or something. I emptied recycle bin. I tried
find-text 12345678 within the document...nothing shows up. Looked
everywhere, can't see it.

Why does WinXP "know" the account number is/was there? Is there a way to
open up the source code and see where this account number is lodged in...
I'd like to get it out of there.

Thanks,
George

Not enough information. What program was used to create the document in
question? XP operating system, itself, only comes with Wordpad and Notepad,
is one of them what you used?

The program used to create the document was WordPerfect 8. Sure, I know
you'll probably suggest going to the WP newsgroup, but there's a high level
of op system expertise on Windows groups, and I was hoping someone might
know.

It's the "search files and folders" function in WinXP that is "finding" the
invisible text.

One thing that did seem to stop WinXP from finding it was to change a
character or two and re-save it, and repeat this change&save sequence a few
times, and then save it under a new name...but I can't see exactly what the
pattern is...i.e. how many times you have to do this or whether the new name
has anything to do with it.

Thanks if have ideas.

You know, you might be looking at a cache thing. Try doing the search, then
reboot and try it again ... same search results?
