Is there any reason I might not want to run MSN screensaver.
The one that shows the weather.

Maybe it sending data back or causing popup or something else?

Thanks

You would have to ask MSN. Personally, I wouldn't use any of the MSN
Toolbar stuff or MSN Explorer.

You would know your own reasons- but what does a screensaver do? Why do you
think you should need a screensaver, what does it do for you? If you aren't
there switch your monitor off, that uses less power than a screensaver. And
the original purpose is redundant for lcd screens and of questionable value
for CRT monitors apart from monochrome ones.
You could call them energy eaters rather than screen savers. Consider using
the power saving mode that turns the display off if you don't like the
manual switch off option, you lose less power so save money, and won't add
so much to the worlds pollution. If you want something to look at put a
picture next to your machine.

Hello ,,,, If you have XP , there is at least one setting you can use for
"Screensaver" like "My Pictures" and adjust time of exposer per pic . I use
this and makes a great slide show . Copy internet pics to add and build into
a screensaver . Also , I believe the less fun food/running processes on my
PC , more I enjoy its performance . I tried one of the weather programs for
quick access to same ,, and that program caused interference . Your
"Personlized Start Page" will have access to the weather quick enough
perhaps .

Perhaps that a screen saver doesn't save your screen? Turning the
monitor off when not in use is what really saves your screen.

Thanks for all the replies.

I am aware that CRTs do not need screensavers any more.
I was just playing around with the MSN one for fun.
But I was wondering if MS included something in the screen saver that was
not obvious.
Sometimes doing things in the background.
From the replies I'd guess not since no one mentioned anything.
I normally have my monitor shutdown after 15 minutes so I set the
screensaver to come on after 10 just for fun. And just for now.

Is the screensaver running all the time? Even when not displaying?

Thanks again
