is there any configuration in windows that can be changed to my dvd reader can be recognised?

Hello to everyone,

the dvd reader of my pc doesn´t recognise any dvd, cds are being
recognised

it´s extrange, because the dvds were readed until now, but not now,
this happens with dvd +r and -r, is there any windows configuration
that can be causing this?

I use windows xp professional + service pack 2

I use windows xp professional + service pack 2

Will it not read or write any DVD? There is a separate laser for CD and
DVD. It could be the DVD one has died. Test by replacing with a known
working DVD drive.

No, any dvd at all, till now it was going right,
