Is there an affordable C# compiler for Windows, i.e. any alternative
to the kilobuck++ Visual Studio .NET?

Eric,

As others have mentioned the compiler is free, however if you really want
the IDE you can buy C# pro without the other languages, it's a lot cheaper,
look on Amazon.

There are also other free IDEs around, like SharpDevelop
