(2) Dell computers, one with XP Pro & the other with XP Home.
Connected through a hub (peer-to-peer).
Everything is set (computer name, workgroup, etc.)
Realized that it was Pro & Home I was trying to network.
Is there a way to network these to versions?

Andy

Are their IP pre-set ?
If yes, turn off the Firewall on the NIC side
ping one another ...

then try putting \\<IP-address-of-the-other-machine> on Win Explorer or IE
and see how you go.

Yes, Just as you described.
During troubleshooting, disable any firewalls on internal network
connections.
( But NOT on a network connection which connects directly to the Internet. )

What works and what doesnt?

Can you go to the command prompt and have
the machines ping each other by IP address and name?

( use "ipconfig /all" on each machine to determine it's IP address. )

eg:
ping 192.168.0.1
ping otherpc

The new computer is XPpro, and the old is XPhome.
I have folders shared on both machines.
I have Local Area Conn (firewall) disabled on both machines.
Pro can see Home in "My Network Connections", but I can't
get Home to see Pro.
