Is there a way to check/scan outlook 2002 XP for a virus?

Someone called me and indicated that I had sent an email to them that
contained a virus.

I did not email this person. This person is in my contacts.

I have also received a couple of emails from providers indicating that I
sent an email that contained a virus. I don't recall sending anything to
them and I do not have anyone from those sites in my contacts.

I wrote these off as some kind of spoofing problem.

Now that I received a call from someone that is in my contacts, it makes me
think I may have a virus on my desktop.

I checked the MS office site, but all I found was to install all of the
latest service packs.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You can (and should) regularly scan your computer with your antivirus
software (you DO have some, right?) - current generation version, and kept
updated regularly. For a second opinion, try http://housecall.antivirus.com

You're probably right....but run a scan anyway.

MS doesn't make antivirus software....but you do need to keep your critical
updates for Windows and Office updated regularly.
