I am trying to determine why my system will not complete shutdown.
The problem started after I did a system restore to roll-back Western Digital Net Center
installation to eliminate an instability in my system. I then reinstalled Microsoft's validation
application (which also got un installed by the roll back) and Quicken 5.
I have tried safe mode and shutdown still hangs.
The problem appears to be somewhere after USB devices are disconnected as it occurs after my USB
mouse stops working. The screen still has the default background and a pointer for the mouse but
the pointer no longer responses to mouse movements.
I am hesitant to try another rollback.
There is a boot log that enables you to find out where the boot process is failing. Is there an
equivalent shutdown log and if so how do I activate and view it?
