I had a repair done by the vendor of my computer which required reformating
the hard drive. When the technician entered the Set-up data he/she spelled
my name wrong. It is now proliferated through many, many places in the
files, documents, etc.

Is there a Search & Replace function where I can give the old data (wrong
name) and the new data (correct name) and have that replicated throughout the
system?

Thanks for any help you can offer!!

Nope.

The name data was entered into the registry and there is no search and
replace edit ability using regedit.exe

You can open regedit though and search for your name and manually make the
changes. Just remember, if you screw up editing the registry Windows may not
start.

Yes and NO.

YES, you can replace the info within the registry. You use "regedit" and
export the complete registry before you do the changes! The you can
"Search/Repalce". This should handle 80 to 90 % of the info changes.

As for any other files that do not store this info in the registry, No. You
will have to search for the incorrect info in the file(s) and manually change
them yourself.
