Hi
My problem is I can not get into XP (pro with sp2) via login as possible
userinit.exe has been replaced with wsupdater.exe (This may not be the cause
but it is possible). So as soon as I login it logs me out.
I can not get in via safe mode as Administrator as it keeps advising the
password is wrong...but I never put an admin password in (I have tried a
blank p/word but this still fails).

I just can not get into pc.

I have tried booting from xp cd disc but this does not work either (the disc
did come from o/seas so this could be why).

I see that 6 bootable disc's can be put on floppies but is there a site
where I can download onto a cdr/w.

thanks for info

Using the 6 diskette set will get you into Recovery Console which has
limited functionality.

Try Bart's PE Builder http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

Good luck

Burn the following ISO image to a CD. Is is a bootable Linux image that mounts NTFS partitions. You can use it to blank the password for the Administrators account, then login to your system normally in Safe Mode or the Recovery Console.

Could well be. It may be an illegal copy. You would need a legitimate
CD and boot to the R recovery option. There
Change the C:\Windows prompt to: C:\Windows\System32
by
CD System32
then
COPY userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe

Reboot into Safe Mode and use a run of regedit.exe:

Open to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT
\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

And in the right pane double click UserInit and change from
wsaupdater.exe to userinit.exe,

Then you can reboot and delete the wpaupdater.exe file

But don't expect a trouble free life.
