I stupidly bought a mobo without RAID, now i`m vaguely thinking about buying a RAID card and another HD to get performance RAID (prob just for my OS). Are the advantages of RAID worth the money? (bought 40 squid-ish)

Cheers, as always

Kenny

I'm using RAID 0 on both my machines.

Honestly, you won't notice any real time difference between RAID 0 and a good hard disk/system.

Only real noticeable difference comes with using SCSI or WD Raptor Hard Disks, in my experience.

If your motherboard doesn't support RAID, I really wouldn't worry about it. The increase in performance is probably not worth the money.

It's still a nice thing to have though, gotta say, if only for the buzz of getting it working and having a super-duper hard disk size ;)

was thinking about getting raid once.

it looks good but thats only if u really honestly need the space!+

is it worth the money? not in your situation Kenny because youn are going to have to buy an add on card, plus the identical harddrives.

so in your situation as your mobo does not have raid, no i dont think its worth it.

as the hard drives can read and write simultaneously and do all the funky raidy things then of course there is going to be SOME performance increase!
