Is NVU the best thing out there?

Sorry if that offends someone. I just haven't looked into web page
builders in a while. I use Visual Studio and do a lot of programming,
but need help on design. Just wanted some opinions. Yeah, I want
free. Thanks for any help.

So how do you think a development package will help your design
? FYI, Nvu is simple and clean.. it produces standards
complient html, so IMHO, it is close to the top. You may want
to get assistance on the design issues elsewhere in the
newsgroups, there are several that you (and I have done so
myself) can post to..

Good luck,,

I can recommend NVU...with a couple of manageable caveats:

- If you use php inc, etc files: NVU will insert random tags
- If you format your code for legibility, NVU will trash it

For the php files, hand edit, yea? For the formatting issues, tidy & an
editor is a must. I do first drafts in NVU and then follow up w/PSPad &
tidy for the subsequent. Works out fine. Check out the following for
more info.

tidy: http://tidy.sourceforge.net/

Very cogent write-up, Buzzy. Nvu is a great html editor for
beginner-intermediate. A plus is that it's open source. One very good
resource for all Nvu questions is http://forum.nvudev.org/.

Fwiw, there are no mentions of known issues with Nvu...

- re- (or de-)formats your code (since it's an xml *parser*)
- mishandles php files (.inc, etc)
- ftp doesn't manage multi-page d/l's (should be fixed next release)

regards,
Craig

Yeah I hate it how it formats your code, very M$.
