and if so, why is it, when i open a ,mny file and then close, it says it
needs a differant name, i then save it with a 1 in the name ( xxx.mny to
xxx1.mny ) i then have two files in Money, Then when I open up the 1 mny
account and resave, everthing is okay except it saves it twice.. both xxx and
xxx1 is saved each time, if I delete one the name won't save unless i change
it again.

I also use MNY 98 with the same problem, but I doubt it is a matter of
compatibility with XP......pretty much all of MS programs are
compatible to XP.......makes sense.

When I get that dumb error message, I add a 1 to the name I want to
save as. Then if I get it again, I add a 2, and so on.

I'm not anxious to know why, or to have it fixed....there are so many
other issues to contend with. But I hope someone comes along that
could answer your question.as far MNY 98 techical issues are
concerned.

The problem may be due to write permission on the Money 98 folder.
Windows XP SP2 has made security a priority and so old programs cannot
run properly unless the folders are made writeable.

I use Netscape 4.8 (don't ask me why but there is a good reason for it)
and I have to make the folder unprotected and also the .ini files are in
a folder that are shared.

This is only an issue if you run XP as a limited user (as I do) for day
to day purposes.

You can also try granting the Users group full permissions to the
install location of Money 98 instead of making the user an administrator.

That doesn't answer the OP's question, you dumb bozo. And as usual your
advice is to buy something from M$. How much M$ stock do you own?
