Is it really a good practice to use table to structure the page

Hello!

I have been told that HTML table is only allowed if you really have a table
with header and rows.
If you use a table as a way of structure the layout you should not use a
table but instead use some other technique
to structura a lauout of the page.

What is your oppinion about this matter =

1) It is correct. TABLE for tabular data and DIV+CSS for general layout.
2) You need to find a HTML group that has experts on this stuff
(maybe comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html !?!?)
