Is it possible to install Windows XP Pro from an external cd drive? My laptops cd drive has been dead for 2 years, and I’m in dire need of a reinstall of the operating system. I've been using a usb cd drive for a while now since the replacement drive is to expensive. Thanks!

If the CD drive is recognized as bootable, or if you have dos drivers for it
that you can run from a floppy disk to get the install going, or if you're
doing an upgrade, it will work.

If you're thinking of doing a clean install and you can't get the computer
to boot from the cd, then it's not going to work.
