I have set up several rules within outlook 2002. I have had problems when I
enable the rules to permanantly delete items so had to revert to just
sending them to deleted items folder. Is there any way I can permanantly
delete them so that they cannot be seen. Most of these emails that are being
caught are porn and I really do not want them being in a place where they
could be seen.
Whenever I try to create the rule to permanantly delete my filtered mail I
usually get a message telling me I do not have permission or something like
that and then that particular rule gets turned off by outlook and of course
as the rule fails it stops processing further rules so other mails then get
through the trap. The other alternative is perhaps an idiots guide "how to
" permanantly delete unwanted mail by rules.

I'm using OL'03, so I'm not sure where the feature is
that will best serve your purpose. One option is to
enable the function that actually deletes your messages
on exit.

You may want to look to your service provider for a
solution, too. Many providers offer web-based e-mail so
you can access it from anywhere. If so, check into the
provider's filtering service. If they offer one, you
will probably have to change OL so it leaves a copy of
the message on the server (you can set it for just one
day, then it will delete the messages automatically for
you.) Then, when you hit one of the ugly-grams, access
your account through a web-browser and do whatever your
provider has set up to identify the message as spam.
Over time, that should begin to cut down on the number of
these you're getting.
