It would be very convenient to be able to send a text message to a contat's
mobile phone number by using Contacts in Outlook. Does anyone know if this
is possible, or if there are any other similar solutions?

Maybe this helps:
<http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...B4-986E-4AFB-AB21-3AF2BE63508B&displaylang=en>

"Office 2003 Add-in: Microsoft Outlook SMS Add-in (MOSA)"
"This download will enable you to send SMS text messages through most
Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) mobile phones connected
to your PC using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003."

But then again, maybe not: "phones connected to your PC"
"To send the message, connect your GSM mobile phone to your PC and
then press the Send button."

does the phone have an email address? If so, you don't need an addin, just
send a short email message (remove your sig before sending). (Most US
phones use (e-mail address removed)_domain.com address.)

The ones I'm aware of are
@mobile.mycingular.com
@message.alltel.com

My Verizon is @vtext.com but I'm not sure if there is another domain.
