HI! I have a network at home ( two computers ) one a PII with Win XP and the
other PI Pro Win98 second addition.

There are attached to a hub 10/100 and both networks cards on both machines
are 10/100.
I am sharing my DSL Modem through this network.

Is it possible to increase my network bandwidth ( between both computers )
to 100 Mb?

Hi

You did not indicated what is the current "Speed" of your Network?

100Mb/sec. is the "Speed" that the internal components of the Network card
would work at. On a functional Peer to Peer Network (depending on setting
and Hardware components) users usually achieve 50-80Mb/sec. (that is
Megabits/sec.) File transfer across the Network is usually measured by
MB/sec. (that is MegaByte/sec.)

1Byte (B) = 8 bits (b). I.e. transferring files should yield 5-10MB/sec.

From your description it is possible that the way you use your DSL is
incorrect, there is No indication of how you NAT the Internet service
(unless you have two external IPs and no real private Network).

HI! on my taskbar my local area network icon reports it being at 10.0Mbps

I use a DSL modem connected to my provider with a non-static IP. Its
connected to the hub as the main and the other computers are attached to the
other ports of the hub.

I also used the network wizard to configure both computer to gether
succefully. ( until a few days ago, as I have other post due to other
problems :( ).

Hi

I am not sure that you have a real network since you seem to be connected
directly to the DSL. There is a strong possibility that you do not exchange
files normaly between the computers, since it does not seem that you
actually have private LAN.

There are varieties of ways to have a Network and share the Internet, the
nature of the precise setting depends on how the whole system looks like.

The content of the following links will provide you with a tutorial about
the issue. It is short and to the point.

The page above was written by me ages ago. You might ignore the prices and
Brand recommendations. The principles however are still the same.

DSL connection will be 10mbps.. connection between local computers will be
100mbps.. that is normal..
