Is it possible to boot from USB Disk-on-Key?

When I try to boot from the USB Disk-on-Key, I get the Windows XP Embedded splash screen, but VERY soon afterwards, I get the 0x0000007B Stop Error (can’t read the disk drive). I believe I have two problems

1. I don’t have the USB Disk Class driver in the XPe image
2. I don’t have the ARC path correct: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW

I believe that if I used certain tools, I could get the USB Disk Class Driver into the XP Embedded image, but I don’t think I can get the ARC path

I bought a USB hard disk caddy, and tried to install XP Professional onto the USB-attached hard disk (the hard disk is really an IDE drive), but the XP Professional Setup program cannot install onto the USB-attached disk

Am I trying to something that is not possible with Windows XP (Professional or Embedded)

Thank you in advance for your assistance

Yes it is possible,

I'm working right now on writing step by step article how to do this.

There are too many problems with this. And you must use kernel debugger to
see boot device stack (what driver failed to load).
You can find more info posted by me in the past how to do this.

There is just much more then 1 and 2.

Unfortunately,

Today I have been asked not to publish this solution.
And for some time I will not be able to discuss it either.

Sorry,
Slobodan

Hi, Slobodan!
Today I have been asked not to publish this solution.
And for some time I will not be able to discuss it either.
Just for info - was it request from your company or from MS guys?

WBR, Nick.

No, it was not request from MS.
Also it was not a request from my company. It was a request from company I
helped to create working USB solution.
I think that soon they will offer their USB DOK devices with this solution.

Regards,
Slobodan
