I am not a lawer, but I'm not aware of any legislature, anywhere in the
world, who has passed such legislation on this topic.

That being said ... XP "Corp" usually is what sellers of pirated
software call their wares. So while there may be know laws against
doing this conversion, you may be using stolen software and there are
laws about theft in most countries.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Yes it is illegal to "convert your Xp Home to Xp Corp/Pro using the corp files".
Purchase a conventional "retail upgrade version" of Windows XP Professional
if you wish to upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro.

Just like to know.

Thanks.

Does the "corp" own your computer? If so, they can do whatever they want
with it. However, when you are not longer affiliated with them, you no
longer have a computer unless you purchase it from them, and then they are
obligated to remove their software.

There's no such thing as "XP Corp," so I don't see how trying to
do something that cannot be done could be "illegal." It does seem
like a silly waste of time, though.

Bruce,

As I'm sure you are aware. "XP Corp" is the term currently used for
the pirated version of the Volume licensed XP. So, While "XP Corp"
is not a valid Microsoft indentifer, there is an "XP Corp".

Also, If I remember correctley for the Beta program, "XP Corporate
Edition"" was a name being considered for the Volume Licensed
version.

Nevertheless, it would be a violation of your EULA to change XP Home to "XP
Corp" (even if it were possible), since the EULA disallows the right to
reverse-engineer the XP code.
