is it a virus?

I have earthlink installed into my computer which has pop-up blocker. It has worked great until yesterday. I am getting all kinds of ads popping up now and cannot get them to stop. I have run spyware and everytime have 4-5 things to delete. Is there something else I should be doing or is there a virus/worm my computer might be infected with? PLZ help.
