Hi
I'm not too sure what you are attempting. If you are trying to 'Repair'
install XP, you don't need to go into the Recovery Console. At the first
screen press Enter, then after you have accepted the license press 'R' at
the next option. Don't worry about the Recovery Console - it's hard to
reinstall XP from there.

| nothing is working Will, I have just tried installing the recovery console
| from
| e:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons but the install screen is blank and not
| responding. I can access the internet ok and OE but trying to run anything
| seems to be futile, even some features of some of my software wont work. I
| am loathe to do a full clean install as I have too much stuff that would
| need to be backed up and reinstalling all my software will take days,
there
| must be a fix. Is there a free online tool that could diagnose the
problem?
