I keep getting the following message when I click on the start menu button.

"There is not enough room to show all the icons you have added ....."

I have tried ALL of the recommended actions including reducing the 'number
of programs to display' to zero but still get the message.
I have also tried using different screen resolutions; all to no effect.

Doe anybody have any ideas on how to permanently get rid of this iritating
message.

I am using Windows XP Home.

This is do to your lack of house keeping.

Right click on the start button. Go to "open all users". Now open
"programs". See all the "crap" there? These are programs you installed.
Every program installs many shortcuts to their programs and program modules.

Start creating a few MAJOR folder categories. I use the following:
1. Applications
2. Utility

Now, start moving what you see into the major folders that you have just
created. If you do it with care, you will end up with just 6-8 main folders.
Everything else will be nested within your main folders.

Now do the same with Start | Open. These are folders that are created for
your account, as opposed to the All Users account.

Have fun.
