I just downloaded from Tucows version 397 and it will only save JPEGs up to
640x480.

To avoid this restriction, registration and payment seems to be needed.

TIA

No problem here saving a jpg at 1024x768. I've tried saving the same pic as
several different formats too. I am unable to duplicate your restriction. I
even resized it to 1600x1200 and have no problem saving it as a jpg or any
other supported format.

It's probably applying to JPEG 2000 format. It's limited to 640X480
resolution saving,

That will be the JP2 (JPEG 2000) format; a newish "lossless" format.

Some formats like *.jpm need a registration code,
Save as *.jpm click OK and look at the result by
opening the new file it contains a watermark.

Thanks everyone. That was indeed the problem. Seems like I accidentally
selected it and didn't notice. It's right next to PJG in the drop down box.

Ejoy the weekend and thanks again.

Maybe in the future people should ask for assistance with a problem they
are experiencing rather than going off half-cocked and pointing the
accusing finger in the wrong direction. False accusation in this group
don't foster good will with the Authors of the Freeware discussed here.

Hi Mel. It seems to me, that Joe was ASKING, not ACCUSING. He explained
what he was attempting, what message he got, and was then assisted. He
then realized his error, and came back to hte group and concurred that he
did, indeed, hit the wrong button. Don't flame him for making a mistake,
then admitting it. Not many people admit their errors.

It appears to be an accusing question to me, especially since their is
no evidence on either the IrfanView Site or Tucows Site that IrfanView
is other than what it has always been represented as FREEWARE. In
addition their is no indication that the program is restricted in any
way, or that payment would remove any implied restrictions.

Thanks PuppyKatt for rescuing me. When I first tried to save an image, it
popped up the window that mentioned the size limitation and it asked for a
registration number

I have seen many freebee programs suddenly becoming non-free and I had
thought this
was what was happening again. Glad it didn't. IrfanView is a great prog :-)
