Hi all !
Having upgraded ma motherboard (K7NCR18D Pro => K7NCR18D Pro II), I was confronted with a connectivity problem to the Internet when I booted up my windows XP again, although I installed all the necessary drivers for that motherboard.
Having found a solution that worked for me, I want to share it to the community.
After some tests showing correct operation of the Ethernet chip and associated driver, and having noticed the IPSEC service wasn't automatically started at Windows startup as it was before and gave a 10106 error when I tried to start it manually, I traced the problem to the winsock stack.
The TCP/IP stack cannot be uninstalled and re-installed in Windows XP, instead there is a utility called netsh.exe which has the ability to reset this stack to its original state. But that wasn't enough to solve ma connectivity problem to the Internet.
So, here was my saving grace:
http://members.shaw.ca/techcd/WinsockXPFix.exe
After running this smart utility, I was able to start the IPSEC service again and reach the Internet.
Big cheers to the guys that developped such a utility ! Enjoy !
