Hi Microsoft/Jon/Andy,

I have been facing a peculiar problem for quite some time now.

IPP doesn't seem to be working on my XPe image. I have done as much
Research as I could have done on the MSDN, Internet, Google and am
exhausted now.

I have a feeler that IPP is not supported on XPe.

Pls confirm, otherwise kindly let me know what am I missing here.

An early response will be highly appreciable.

Thanx,
Ashisha

Hi Ashisha,

IPP stands for?
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...a=group=microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded.*

If it is working on XP Prof then it can work on XP Embedded as well.
But please note that certain registry entries are missing in XPe components and that even certain files in repository are not
covered by components. So you will have to do little manual research with tools like regmon, filemon, .... and to add things that
are missing in your image.

Best regards
Slobodan

Hi Slobodan,

Thanks for replying.

Yes. IPP stands for Internet Printing Protocol.

Yes. I did extensive and exhaustive research on Web (MSDN, Google
Groups, etc), before posting this query. Before I started working on
this problem, even I was under impression that if "something" works on
XP Pro, it should work on XPe as well!! But after I tried innumerous
attempts, I have a feeler that "maybe" this is not the case here!!
Obviously, I may be wrong and I wish I am proven wrong. :)

Yes. I have tried FileMon and RegMon a lot of times, but to no avail.

MS/Jon, Pls help.

Ashisha

Hi Ashish,

IT sounds strange when you say that u have done all the research for
IPP with regmon and filemon and still there is some missing
dependency.okey i guess you should take this approach and as well said
by Konstmor.

Download the XP Pro Emulation from www.xpefiles.com and include your
component
in that.Build and verify whether it works .Itf it works good ,Now we
can narrow down to the resource and if it doesn't then its difficult..
coz it could be more of a problem with respect to some external
dependency that is mising.

If it does work on the emulation then Missing resource dependency can
be of registry entries , file entries and i know u play well with both
of them.I would also suggest you to check for any component
dependencies ,whihc could be a solution to the problem.Make sure the
Filemon tracks all the files and make sure everything is in place. In
any case there can be some other component holding the necessary files
too.

btw, long back i found few of them facing the problem with IPP ,let me
put it across to them ..

Kesavan
