IP Config file info....

Is there a simple way to print out the contents of this file?

Before I install SP 2, I want to _print out_ my ISP connection data,
just in case I need it after. I can't seem to find anything in XP when
I need it.

The tech had a hard time setting it up originally on this new XP system,
and has it set up as LAN 2, which I don't understand. I have one pc,
directly connected to cable service [no router], and use no networks.
Is that because he left Microsoft Client Networks checked? Is that
necessary for Updates, or something? I'm asking, because that was not
enabled on my previous machine. TIA for any responses...

When you say "file" do you mean the information from the IPCONFIG command?
If so the best thing to do is write it down. Its not that big. Go to
Start - Run and type CMD, then OK. In the DOS box type IPCONFIG /ALL and
hit enter. Write down the information. You should also go to Start -
Connect to - Show all connections and write down the information about your
LAN or High Speed Internet connection. I'm running XP Pro and I upgraded to
SP2 a couple of weeks ago. No problems, just a big download.

In your configuration I don't believe you need to have the Microsoft client
checked.

Yes... exactly. :)

Thanks... I had tried to find it, by typing "ipconfig" in Run, as I did
with WinME... no "CMD".

You should also go to Start -
Connect to - Show all connections and write down the information about your
LAN or High Speed Internet connection.

Thanks again... that's what I am looking for [I think], that was all in
one place in WinME.

SP2 a couple of weeks ago. No problems, just a big download.

It was downloaded automatically for me last week, but I haven't been
able to make a backup yet, or get this IP info; so I postponed
installing it.

In your configuration I don't believe you need to have the Microsoft client
checked.

Good, I would like to uncheck it again. :) Thanks again for your help!

Open a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd) and type:

ipconfig >config.txt

You will now find the configuration in the config.txt file at the root
of the c: drive (c:\config.txt), and can open it in Notepad.

Start, Run, Command
Then type IPCONFIG /ALL >ipconfig.txt

You can then open ipconfig.txt in Notepad and print it out or copy it
elsewhere.

Why do you bother wasting bandwidth on these long dead threads that noone will ever read. Do you hate yourself.
