ipconfig is a very popular tool when working with networks or Internet. In order to get it going you will need to open a command promt. You can open a command promt by going to Start, Run, type CMD and select ok, now type ipconfig on the command promt and you will see basic ip configuration. to view more IP informaiton type ipconfig /all. This will show your ip, subnet, gateway (router), DNS, DHCP if any (for home users it is usually your router) and other important inforation about your connection.

If going command does not work well with you, worry not. Microsoft hears you. Microsoft developed a tool in order to get ipconfig in a gui (graphical users interface). You can download and install this tool at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/wntipcfg-o.asp It works with Windows 2000 and XP.

if you do like the command interface (it is the best) here is a site that will delite you,
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...NDOWSXP/home/using/productdoc/en/ipconfig.asp
copy and paste it to your address bar and get ti. it is a list of all the things you can do with ipconfig using the command interface.

Hope this helps!
