For some reason my IP address seems to be available over
the Internet. Thus, I receive funny messages which I
cannot stop. The last one mentioned a site
www.popuppadlock.com which could help.

What can I do? Does anyone know this site?
Thanks for your help

Your IP address doesn't 'leak'. It is that way on purpose; unless you're
using NAT, your IP address is necessarily visible on the Internet in
order for you to communicate (including browsing, chat, e-mail, etc.)
over the Internet.

If you're not using it (most people aren't), the most straightforward
solution is to disable the Messenger service. Open the MMC Services snapin,
locate 'messenger' and disable it. Note that although it has the same name,
this is NOT the same as the IM client that ships with XP (or other Instant
Messenger apps).

A more brutal solution, though generally a good idea from a security
standpoint, is to turn on Internet Personal Firewall (or get a third-party
personal firewall). You can access this via the Network control panel--
right-click on your network connection and choose properties. It's on one
of the Advanced tabs, IIRC.

Your street address has been leaked all over your postal system. Best to
clean up that mess before tackling getting rid of IP addresses on the
Internet.

You are being flim-flammed by a software snake oil salesman.
