Just a simple question. Is it normal to have your IP address be
different on two different computers using the same internet provider
and dialing up from the same location on the same phone line.
My downstairs computer has IP address ending in 74.38 while the
upstairs id ends in 26.4
This is the same internet provider dialed in on the same phone line. I
have always thought that the IP address remained the same. This question
came up when viewing firewall log on the one machine and noting that I
had two different addresses listed as mine, one ending in 74.222 and one
as 74.38

John;
It is normal and expected for each computer to have its own IP address
otherwise you might never get data from the sites you surfed.
Unless you have a static IP, the IP will possibly change each call.

both machines will always have different IP address's
when they are loged into a dialup connection. Each
connection gets a new IP address each time you log on.
